We supply Psychrophilic and Thermophilic blends of bacteria capable of degradation at temperature ranges from 36°F (3°C) to 113°F (45°C) in the mixed liquor. Temperature drops impact the metabolism and reproduction of the microorganisms decreasing by half for each 50°F (10°C) drop. This decrease reaction rate is often first seen as a decrease in oxygen uptake rate (OUR) activity or as a decline in COD removal. When this occurs it can take months to get the microorganisms to adapt to the temperature change. Augmenting with a Psychrophilic blend of bacteria prior to the drop in temperatures can ensure the microorganisms adapt to the change in temperature without shocking the plant.
